Qantas Supports Movember With Aircraft Mo

Wednesday 9 November 2011 | Category: Corporate

As an extension of its partnership with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Qantas has painted a moustache on its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Its public display of support for Movember will help raise awareness for the cause and associated annual campaign, which encourages men to grow moustaches each year in November to raise money for prostate cancer research.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said he was extremely proud to be supporting the campaign. “Qantas is honoured to be showing its support for Movember and helping to get vital health awareness message out far and wide,” he said.

The cause really hits home for Mr Joyce who was tested and discovered to have an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He was fortunate enough to have had an operation quickly and to have made a smooth recovery. “As a survivor of prostate cancer, I am passionate about bringing greater awareness to men who are most at risk,” Mr Joyce said.

"Seeing a moustache sprout on the nose of a plane has long been an ambition of the team at Mo HQ and we're all very excited to see this finally happening, thanks to Qantas,” said Jason Hincks, Chief Operating Officer of Movember.

Movember was born in Australia back in 2003 and so we see the partnership with this iconic Australian brand as a very natural one. We're hugely grateful for the support Qantas is providing Movember this year and on behalf of our Mo Bros, Mo Sistas and donors, we'd like to thank them for donating the face of a place for the month of Movember; it's a fantastic boost to our awareness campaign and will go a long way towards helping us achieve our vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men's health,” Mr Hincks said.
